Oil Furnaces

While certainly not as popular as gas or even electric furnaces, oil furnaces are still a viable option for many people in the Boise area. If you need to replace your current oil furnace or are considering switching to one of these models when you replace your current heating system, you will have several options to consider. Many people just write off oil furnaces from the beginning because they have heard too many negative things about them – how they are inefficient and difficult to maintain.

While that may have been true in the past, many of the common shortcomings of older oil furnaces are no longer an issue. Particularly if you have limited fuel options in your area, oil furnaces are a great option worth looking into.

Wickstrom Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is a leading provider of oil furnaces to customers all over the region. We have the expertise and skills to get you the right product and have it in place quickly. The oil furnaces that we offer are top of the line, so you do not need to worry about how long they will last or how often you will need to call for repairs.

An Alternative to Gas

For the most part, oil furnaces are used in areas that do not have access to natural gas lines. While electric furnaces are also an option in these areas, oil furnaces are usually a better option from a price and efficiency standpoint. Oil furnaces are widely available, easy to install and can provide years of reliable home heating no matter where you live or how harsh your winters are.

Oil Furnace Efficiency

While it is true that most oil furnaces will never come close to the ultra–high efficiency of some of today’s gas furnaces, the newest models are still quite energy efficient. Plus, you should remember that it may not be worth it for you to purchase an ultra–high efficiency furnace anyway. That is because with the higher efficiency rating comes a higher price tag.

While you will certainly save a bit on your monthly heating bills with a very high efficiency furnace, that added savings may not be enough to offset the higher initial purchase price of the furnace itself. So before you write off oil furnaces entirely, make sure you take a look at what type of fuel efficiency rating you really want your new furnace to have. It may very well be that you can get an oil furnace that will suit your needs perfectly.

Noise Reduction

Another common complaint about oil furnaces in the past was that they were quite noisy and disruptive when they were switching on and off. However, the newer oil furnaces on the market today are much quieter throughout operation than their predecessors. In fact, you may not even notice at all when one of these furnaces switches on or off, so noise is no longer a good reason to write them off either.
