Toilet Backing Up

One of the single most common plumbing problems homeowners face is a backed up toilet. It’s why most people have a plunger sitting next to their toilet at all times – just in case. But, what causes these clogs and what should you do when they seem begin to recur frequently? What can you do when a plunger just doesn’t get the job done anymore?

If you are beyond the point of being able to unclog the toilet on your own, call Wickstrom Plumbing, Heating & Cooling. Our Boise area plumbers have been diagnosing and resolving toilet back up issues for years. Our technicians will arrive and fix the problem as quickly as possible, ensuring your toilet once again operates as intended.

Toilet Clog Causes

The most obvious reason toilets back up is because too much waste clogs the pipes. However, there are more specific reasons clogs may develop. Specifically, the design of the toilet’s drainage pipes makes it easy to clog. These pipes are designed to push water through to the drainage line whenever new water is added to the bowl.

When you flush, if the water sitting in the trap underneath your toilet doesn’t clear out, the new water backs up and eventually spills all over your bathroom floor. Usually a blockage occurs because something non–soluble gets flushed. Paper towels, hygiene products, toys, hair and other items that shouldn’t go down a toilet can easily clog up the drainage lines and make it impossible to clear the toilet with a plunger.

When does a clogged toilet become more than an inconvenience and enter the realm of extreme problem? Usually a clogged toilet can be fixed easily enough with a plunger and some elbow grease. Though it might take some effort and a little time, many clogged toilets can be fixed the old fashioned way.

When a clog is deeper in the drain or not in the trap at all, but in a deeper drainage pipe, a snake or even more powerful tools might be needed to clear it. If this is the case, you need Wickstrom Services. We have been serving the Boise and Nampa metropolitan area for years and we have the tools and experience needed to get the job done right. Whether you’ve already got a full blown toilet back up or you’ve just grown concerned over chronic toilet clogs, we have technicians standing by ready to help.
